This is a practical course focusing on macroalgae and their associated flora and fauna. Macroalgae are significant structuring components of temperate near shore marine communities, providing food, shelter and substrate for a number of species. The course includes field collection of samples, lectures on the identification of algae and major groups of associated fauna (e.g. molluscs, polychates, crustaceans) as well as specialist lead identification sessions on the collected material.
